Action Organizing Sessions: 1:30-2:15pm
What are Action Organizing Sessions?
In the spirit of unconferencing, we invite everyone to participate in a 45- minute Action Organizing Break-out Session. These sessions are designed to bring together allies across generational, geographical and other divides that tend to separate us and weaken the power of our work. Let’s come together -- youth, teachers, community-based educators, parents -- to work on concrete actions we can take around our collective stories toward our goal of SELF-DETERMINATION IN EDUCATION.
How will this work?
As we finish lunch in the cafeteria (at 1:15pm), participants will have time to choose one of the Action Organizing Sessions below or propose on of their own. Each group will have 1 minute at the mic to explain their action organizing topic. Groups will be assigned a space and have 45 minutes to DO THE WORK. Plan your next march, write letters to those in power, create an online campaign or petition, collect people’s stories to share in some way. When you’re finished, each group will send your action summary to [email protected] and we will share with the larger conference community to participate if they choose.
